Car Inspection in Dallas–Fort Worth, TX

North Texas sits in hail country, and a bad storm writes off thousands of cars in an afternoon. Most are repaired and sold on, which is legitimate — but hail repair is done to a price, and the difference between a good one and a quick one is not visible from ten feet away.

Hail repair is a spectrum, not a yes or no

Done well, paintless dent removal leaves a car as good as it was. Done cheaply, it leaves stretched panels, cracked clearcoat, filler in a roof skin and a car that will look wrong again within two years. Both look identical in a listing photograph taken on a cloudy day.

DFW is also a large wholesale market, so cars arrive from everywhere and move quickly. A car that was repaired in one state and sold in another carries no record of which kind of repair it got.

On this kind of purchase

  • ✓Roof, hood and trunk in raking light for stretched panels and previous hail work
  • ✓Paint depth readings across every horizontal panel, where hail damage lands
  • ✓Clearcoat condition and any cracking around repaired dents
  • ✓Structural and mechanical checks in full, because hail is never the only history

Every inspection also covers the full checklist — engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, tires, body and interior — with a road test where the seller permits one.

Worth knowing first

Can you tell whether a car has had hail repair?

Usually. Paint depth readings and the behavior of light across a panel show repaired dents and filler that a photograph does not.

Does Texas still require a safety inspection?

No. Since 1 January 2025 non-commercial vehicles no longer need one to register, under House Bill 3297. Emissions testing still applies in the DFW counties.

Can you cover both sides of the metroplex?

Yes. Dallas, Fort Worth and everything between them is one dispatch area for us.
