Pre-Purchase Car Inspection in Annapolis, MD

Annapolis is a boating town, and that shows up in the used cars. Tow vehicles, trailer hitches, and years of salt air on everything parked near the water.

What brackish water does to a rear axle

A vehicle used to launch a boat has reversed its rear end into salt water repeatedly. Brake lines, rear suspension components, the hitch, and the wiring for trailer lights all take that in a way nothing else in normal use replicates.

It does not make a vehicle a bad buy. Plenty of well-kept tow vehicles are rinsed carefully after every launch. But it needs looking at specifically, and it is not something a general walk-around catches.

Every inspection also covers the full checklist — engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, tires, body and interior — with a diagnostic scan and a road test where the seller permits one.

Worth knowing first

Do you inspect boats or trailers?

No — vehicles only. But we do look closely at what towing and launching have done to the vehicle itself, which is often what a buyer here actually needs to know.

Is a former tow vehicle a bad buy?

Not automatically. A carefully maintained one can be excellent. The point of the inspection is telling that apart from one that has been quietly destroying itself.

Do you cover the whole Annapolis area?

Yes, and the surrounding Anne Arundel towns. Enter the ZIP the car is in to confirm before you go further.
