Pre-Purchase Car Inspection in Buda, TX

Buda has a dealership strip and a steady flow of trade-ins moving through it. A car that has just been taken in part-exchange, detailed and put out front has had a valuation, not an inspection — and those are different jobs done by different people for different reasons.

A dealer’s reconditioning is not an inspection

Reconditioning is a commercial decision about what is worth spending before resale. It is competent and it is not dishonest, but its purpose is presentation, and the things it leaves are the things the next owner pays for.

We are not paid by the lot and we have nothing to sell you afterwards, so the report says what is actually there — including the items the recondition skipped.

On this kind of purchase

  • ✓Whether recent work was repair or presentation — paint depth, panel gaps, fresh underseal
  • ✓Brakes, tires and fluids, the usual three to be deferred before a sale
  • ✓Fault codes read, including any cleared shortly before the car was listed
  • ✓Road test where the seller allows one, because some faults only appear moving

Every inspection also covers the full checklist — engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, tires, body and interior — with a road test where the seller permits one.

Worth knowing first

The lot says it has already been through their 150-point check.

It probably has. A dealer check is done for the dealer, to decide what to spend before resale. Ours is done for you, to decide what to pay. They answer different questions.

Do I need to be there?

No. Your inspector arranges access with the seller and the report comes to you.

What if the car sells while I am waiting?

You are charged nothing. You pay when the report is delivered, so a car that sells first costs you nothing at all.
