Pre-Purchase Truck and Car Inspection in Leander, TX

Leander sells trucks. A great many of them have towed something — a trailer, a boat, a stock trailer, a caravan — and towing is invisible on an odometer while being the single hardest thing you can ask of a drivetrain.

A tow hitch changes what the mileage means

Fifty thousand miles of towing is not fifty thousand miles of driving. Transmission fluid runs hotter, the cooling system works nearer its limit, and rear suspension, brakes and driveline carry loads they were rated for but not intended to live at.

The presence of a hitch is easy to see. What matters is whether the transmission was serviced on a towing schedule rather than a normal one, and whether the cooling system was ever upgraded to match. Those are questions with checkable answers.

On this kind of purchase

Every inspection also covers the full checklist — engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, tires, body and interior — with a road test where the seller permits one.

Worth knowing first

Does a truck that has towed need the Specialist inspection?

Not usually — a standard pickup falls under Standard. Heavy-duty and diesel trucks fall under Specialist, which includes a diagnostic scan.

Can you tell how much a truck has towed?

Not to a number, but wear on the hitch, driveline and transmission gives a clear picture of whether towing was occasional or constant, and we photograph it.

Do you inspect at rural properties outside town?

Yes, though coverage further out can take a little longer to confirm. The ZIP check tells you before you book.
